this
large handsome silver letter opener is an excellent example of the art
nouveau style that flourished between the 1890's and 1910.
the detailed
cast handle-probably bronze AND SILVERPLATED-is in wonderful condition.
on one side there is a chrysanthemum flower with it's flowing leaves. the
other side depicts leaves exemplified by the famous "whiplash" curve found
in art nouveau works.

measures 9 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide and 1 inch deep.the handle
is 4 inches long.
