Burford, contractor for state printing and binding, Indianapolis, 1901. Original dark blue hard-cover in good condition. Four corners bumped, bottom corners worn to cover-board. Some chipping on cover through to cover-board. Chipping on top of spine and along front top gutter, approx. 1 inch. Small hole through cover-board on back gutter. Light spotting along outer edges of front and back cover. Several small dents in back cover. Decorative end-pages in good condition with some aging. Spine split but holding along inside back cover. Pull-out map of Chickamauga Battlefield in pocket inside front cover. Map in good + condition with light aging and a stain along outer side edge. Map is in black and red ink, 20 by 27 ¼ inches. Back fold of map where it is exposed in pocket has soiling. Black and white frontispiece photograph of Governor Claude Matthews is in good condition. Text block pages with light aging and occasional soiling. Approx. 82 black and white illustrations. Actual size of book: 6 1/4 by 9 3/4 inches. 318 pages. This is a report commissioned by the state of Indiana to honor the men who fell on the field of Chickamauga. The report follows the establishment of a Military Park commission and the erection of monuments and markers on the battlefield. Indiana History.
