Gold-gilt flower design on front cover and gold-gilt lettering on spine in still bright. Maroon lettering on front cover is bright. Front top corner lightly bumped and worn. Shelf-wear on cover, especially bottom edges, top and bottom of spine, and corners. Soiling on cover. Decorative end-pages in good condition. Title page is loose at top. Spine split but holding on backside of title page. Text block pages have light aging, occasional finger soiling. Actual size of book: 5 by 7 ½ inches. 490 pages of text, plus an additional short story, “Ramona’s Home.” Plus pages of advertisements. This is Helen’s popular novel based on her early experience with California Native Americans. Ranked as one of the two best ethical novels of the 19th century. Literature.
