Original red hard-cover in good condition. Gold-gilt lettering on front cove and spine is bright. Some shelf-wear and soiling on cover. Top, back corner bumped. Bottom corners worn to cover-board. Front and back cover’s split but holding to spine. Decorative end-pages have light aging and soiling. Light red staining n outer edges of front end-page. Text block pages have aging, especially towards back of book. Text pages also have occasional creasing and finger soiling. Actual size of book: 6 by 9 inches. 706 pages. “This volume is not a history, nor is it a “story,” in the usual acceptation of the word. “Si Klegg” and “Shorty,” his “pard” are imaginary characters—through their prototypes are in every regiment—and Company Q, 200th Indiana, to which they belonged, is, of course, fictitious….the writer has aimed to present a truthful picture of “soldiering.” Civil War.
