Hopi kachina Basquetry plaque

Ca. 1920 Hopi basquetry plaque in excellent condition. plaque measures 10 1/2 inches in diameter and retains original vibrant colors. Plaques of this sort were only made in the second mesa villages. The design represents a masked being- "Kipok Kachina", The Warrior. Originally, these baskets were woven as food trays, many, however, were sold to tourists as souvenirs. This example fits the latter description in condition and use. A fine example in excellent condition.
