Sgnd 1942 J. Frank Dobie Letter Austin Texas

Original 8 1/2 by 11 inch signed letter from J. Frank Dobie to Lou Cherbeneau in regards to the former's knowledge of Saddles. Unfortunately, as Dobie relates, he doesn't have "any technical knowledge in saddles, except in a general way." Dobie advises Cherbeneau to contact a range historian named Burnett in Buffalo Wyoming and to consult with Phillip Ashton Rollins who according to Dobie has "the best collection of books and pamphlets on the range that any individual has ever accumulated." Rollins' collection is now at Princeton University. Letter is in vg condition on The University of Texas Austin Letterhead. Dated November 27, 1942. Handsigned in dark blue ink, J. Frank dobie at bottom. Ex-collection Lou Cherbeneau, Estes Park, Colorado saddlemaker and saddle historian.
