Proclamation and Farewell Address of Andrew Jackson

Original brown paper wraps in good condition with some small creases and light chipping along edges of front wrap. Rear wrap repaired with three archival tape repairs to underside of wrap. Book folded down the center of the pamphlet possibly from original mailing in 1863. Moderate wear, fading, and aging on cover. Published by Singerly & Myers, State Printers in Harrisburg, 1863. Actual size: 9 3/8 by 6 inches. 31 pages. Binding tight. No endpapers as issued. Text block in good condition with foxing and aging and a fold through the middle of all pages. The 16 page, "Proclamation of President Andrew Jackson, to the People of South Carolina on December 10, 1832", focuses on laws passed by Congress on tariffs and duties which South Carolina regards as unconstitutional. The 15 page second speech is, Jackson's "Farewell Address to the American People given on March 4, 1837." Each speach is individually paginated. Scarce. Americana. U.S. Presidential Speeches. U. S.
