"Rules for the Management and Cleaning of the Rifle Musket, Model 1863, for the Use of Soldiers." Government Printing Office, Washington, 1863. Includes black and white descriptive plates. Original blue paper covers in good + condition. Textblock pages thread sewn with cotton thread visible. "Rhoads, E. M." written on inside front cover in blue ink. Paper glued to front inside cover has notes on U.S. Rifle Musket, cal. 58. Also included are 2 pages of hand-written notes on Model 1855 Rifle and Cartridges in black ink. Slight chip on top front corner. 1/4 inch tear on side of back cover. Slight fading and aging. Some tearing on spine including 2 1/4 inch tear in center of spine. 1/2 inch tear on bottom of spine. 1/2 inch tear on top of spine. Black print and black design on cover. Text block pages pulled away from spine. Text block pages in good condition with some soiling/aging. Actual size: 5 1/2 by 8 inch. 25 pages. This illustrated manual describes parts of the rifle musket and care for specific pieces. The plates show parts from different angles. Also included are rules for dismounting the rifle/musket.
