Last Hours of Sheridan's Calvary-Henry E.Tremain 1904 Bonnell, Silver & Bowers, New York, 1904. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Very Good Minus. BW Photograph Two Maps and Steel Engraving (illustrator). First Thus. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Condition: Decorative gilt cover with embossed flag in red and white, on blue-grey cloth. Gilt on cover and spine still bright. Corners and head and tail of spine bumped. Front top corner starting to fray. Top of pages in gilt, trim edge and bottom rough cut. Pages mildly age toned, clean and tight. Former owner Edwin M. Rhoads' circular blind-stamp to to first two free endpages at bottom corner. Frontis portrait of General Sheridan, with fascimile signature, tissue covered. Two foldout maps, between pp. 82-3, of the Campaign at Appomattox. One steel engraving, "Holding Up Lee's Supply Trains." Exact size: 7 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches. 563 pages. Narrative history of the final days of Sheridan's forces leading up to and in the final battle with General Lee at Appomattox. Thirteen chapters, the final one written thirty-five years after the events, regarding all of the drama around the final surrender of confederate forces. Scarce. First thus, with additions and a new map. U.S. Military History. Civil War. Hardback.
