This is a selection of folk-tales with accompanying color plates made from Hopi Kachina dolls from the collections of the Southwest Museum. Hodge’s aim was to incorporate the little series of myths and tales which lend themselves to illustration by means of effigies representing sacred Kachina personages such as appear in the religious ceremonies of the Pueblo tribes of Arizona and New Mexico, according to former director of the Southwest Muesum, F.
