“Done in the Open,” Drawings by Frederic Remington. With an introduction and verses by Owen Wister & others. Published by P. F. Collier & Son, 1903. New York. Original decorative tan cover in good condition. Remington drawing on front cover. Aging and soiling on cover. Chipping along outer edges exposing coverboard on outer edges and corners of front and back cover. Fraying on top and bottom of spine. End pages aging and some finger soiling. Back end pages have some long scratches that penetrate the paper in three pencil-prick spots. Front end pages have a faded square. Text block pages have aging, finger soiling and occasionally, some fading, but are in good condition. Binding is in good condition. Book size: 11 ½ by 16 ¼ inches. Approx. 88 pages. This is a collections of drawings, most black and white, but “Caught in the Circle,” is a two page full color drawing in the center of the book. Many of the drawings are a full page. Some are a half page and some are figures that take up a small portion of the page. Many o f the drawings are accompanied by poems. Drawings are titled: “A Sure Sign,” “Ready? Go!” “The Tortoise and the Hare,” & “Latest News.” Scarce. Art. Americana.
