Circa 1940, Original Oil on Canvas, Signed "To my Friend Ed Clement, Charles De Feo"; 30 inches wide by 21 inches high, unframed. Portrayed is a masculine bird dog, Pointer in the field; possibly Ed Clement's own faithful hunting companion. Vibrant colors and masterful technique show why Charles De Feo was considered to be one of the finest artist/illustrators of the American outdoors. Charles De Feo's paintings frequently graced the covers of Outdoor Life and other magazines. He was a also one of N. C. Wyeth's most famous pupils. De Feo is equally reknowned for his agilent fly tying abilities and designs. The "De Feo" method of fly tying being a most respected method of fly tying to this day. This early work of De Feo's perhaps captures his mastery of illustration art, and is in every respect a masterpiece. This painting has been recently cleaned and repaired. There was a one inch protusion to the top left corner of painting where something bumped back of painting. Area was professionaly flattened with archival tape and has no inpainting or other restoration. One week inspection period guaranteed.
