Papelera (Spanish Colonial Bishop's Box)These cases were used by Bishops to hold various ecclesiastical vestments and accoutrements while traveling. It probably had a cover at one time. This exapmple is extremely fancy, indicating a high rank in the church. C 1650-1750, various woods, 10.5"deep, 21.5" tall, 32.5" wide.
