30x 24 Floral Still Life Oil on Board signed lower left, Mary (Marie) Chilton Gray. C 1942 American 1888-1969 Mary Chilton Gray was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1888. She trained at the Herron Art Institute and moved west to settle in Taos, NM where she lived for 10 years, painting and doing illustrations. She was a memger of NAWA in Taos. She later moved to Denver and joined the staff of the Museum of Natural History as one of its muralists. She also did Illustratins of "Prehistoric Indian of the Southwest and Ancient Man in North America. Her work has been exhibited at the American Water Color Society, in New York City in 1942 , in Columbus Ohio and at Stables Gallery in Taos, NM as well as the Turner Art Gallery in Denver, Co. Works can be viewed at the Denver Art Museum, Denver Museum of Natural History and the Hall of Man Sources: WW1959, WW 1925, WW1947
