SCHUCO 1920s YES - NO TEDDY BEAR ~VG & NR~
(Item: SCHUCO BEAR II)

We, not to long ago, found a matched pair of 1920s SCHUCO "YES - NO" 15 inch Teddy Bears.  Offered the first one on Ebay...he went back to Europe, his Ebay auction number was 2950344690 & he was named "Jamie".  He was a little rough around the edges and his "yes" function didn't work.
We elected to keep "John" because he was the finer of the two.  Now, we're going through a "can't keep it all" period and we're making "John" available.  We're guessing "Jamie" & "John"...the people... were twins, born in Colorado in the early 1920s or the late teens.  The first "YES - NO" Teddy Bears were patented in 1921 by Muller & Schreyer Heinrich, in Nuremberg, Germany and these Bears will date from this period when Jamie & John would have been given them when they were youngsters.

"John" has survived well....his "yes - no" functions just fine....believe he had a "growler" in his chest, which does not function...  When you move his little tail up and down, his head follows up and down; the "no" head movement happens when the tail is moved side to side.  He has glass eyes, a stitched nose, mouth and claws; he is good and plush and there are no holes for excelsior to leak from and his arms and legs are jointed...& of course, his head. His tail has one worn spot where the metal from the tail shows;  there are small holes in all of his four pads. He also has his name written on the bottom of his left foot paw.  Will rate his overall condition as Excellent, as his problems are all minor.
