LUX ANIMATED DIXIE BOY PENDULETTE CLOCK

We've found this Black Americana, circa 1935 LUX novelty clock referred to as "DIXIE BOY" & "PICKANNINY". The lux dot com web site uses the "Dixie Boy" name and calls the clock #330. They also describe it as "syroco wood face, brown with black coat and hair, white shirt and teeth, red lips with green hat. Animation eyes move from side to side as the tie pendulum swings. 4 1/4 inches wide and 8 1/2 inches tall (with pendulum). Thirty hour key wind pendulette movement". The brass works are marked on the back, as pictured: LUX CLOCK, MFG. CO. INC. WATERBURY, CONN. USA. D-90919. PAT. 1928296. Hook on the side for key, which was taped down when we found, so, assume the key to be original.

CONDITION: Paint is EXCELLENT. Minor paint chips at top of neck tie and minor paint loss on the clock hands. The face paint is all but pristine. There is no loss of the composition material. Clock is wound tight, so it will need attention we cannot give to make it run. Also, the shaft that holds the tie pendulum is bent and needs to be straightened to let the tie pendulum swing properly; at this point it only swings to the 3 o'clock side. The eyes move to the 3 o'clock side and they will make a full swing when the shaft is straight. Believe these to be minor problems considering the Excellent Condition of the paint. Have also found that it is very difficult to find this clock with the original neck tie and we feel quite safe in saying this red metal tie is original to the clock The clock is marked properly with the LUX stamp, so, will guarantee the clock IS NOT a reproduction. Investment quality clock and hard to find (our antique clock price guide website lists 70+ LUX clocks, but no DIXIE BOY'S. Clock is from an estate and had been tucked away for many years. Remember, always dig deep into those boxes!
