RED WING STONEWARE 'REFRIGERATOR JAR' BLUE & WHITE #2 This is a Red Wing blue and white 2
1/2 quart, (5 Lb) stoneware refrigerator jar, circa 1920's. Jar is pictured on page 132 of 2004 "Red Wing Stoneware," by DePasqual, Peck and Peterson, valued between $275 and $325.the
lid sits in a recessed rim. A wire bail handle with a black wooden
turned
dowel is attached to the pottery loops on the side of the crock.
Imprinted in dark gray is the inscription 'REFRIGERATOR JAR.' The
letters were smudged in the making which is unusual. There is also a
paint smudge on the backside of the rim. There are a couple of
tiny spots of paint loss around the rim of the crock and top of the
lid. There is also a tiny flake and a chip on the bottom of the crock. Otherwise the crock and lid are in Excellent condition with no chips cracks or crazing. The aforementioned conditions of this crock have little to no effect on its overall aesthetic value, as it is in Excellent condition. The crock measures 6 1/2 inches tall and 8 1/4 inches in diameter from loop to loop. Please take a look at our other early stoneware crocks for sale today in separate auctions!
