OLD FOLKY PAINTED HOODED MERGANSER DUCK DECOY

This is an Excellent old hooded
merganser duck decoy with original paint and glass eyes. We guess that
this duck was made pre W.W II. Stamped just below the tail are the
initials "W.M." We have been unable to associate a maker with the
initials. This is a solid body duck, though it is fairly light in
weight. This was a working duck, and the weights have long since been
removed. The paint is original and in Good Condition, considering that
this duck was in the water. There is some crazing on the back, and the
underside is missing some paint. The tip of the nose and the crown of
the head have some minor paint loss as well. Though, overall, the paint
is in Good Condition. There are some dings and scuffs on the body,
consistent with the decoy's age and use. There is a very tiny bit of
flex in the head. Duck measures 12 inches from beak to tail, and is 5
1/2 inches tall.
