NAVAJO INDIAN LEATHER BAG ~COINS BEADS CONCHOS BELLS
(Item: NAVAJO BAG)

Please check our other auctions this week for a number of Quality Native American items!

Presumably Navajo, this purse is made of black leather. 18 Quarters are posted along the long strap by use of copper brads which have been attached to the quarters then pinned through the leather. The newest quarter is dated 1985, so we assume the purse was made in or near that year. The rest of the purse is adorned with metal tacks holding the leather together along the front; red, white and blue plastic beads along each side; three turquoise studded conchos on the front- two may be sterling, the other probably nickel silver.  Also, the bottom is decorated with tin tubes and bells below them. there is one front flap from which to enter into the purse. Some of the leather strips that hold the bottom tubes on is a bit frail, otherwise this purse was lovingly made and is still on Very good Condition. From the bottom to the top of the strap is 40 inches.
the purse by itself measures 14 inches long and 9 1/2 across.
