CA. 1890s COOL SAMPLER QUILT W. CHEDDAR BORDER

This beautiful Sampler quilt with blue sashing and cheddar border is from Pennsylvania, Circa 1890. Machine pieced and hand quilted with green thread, the front side alone is strikingly beautiful. To add to this is the fact that it has been backed in the most unusual way, with a wool suiting one patch quilt. The back is feather stitched between squares, and in one place the alphabet has been used instead of feather stitching, see photo. It even has a little design with five lighter colored squares in the middle. This quilt is a little thicker than most. It is in Very Good condition, with one 1 inch mend on the cheddar border and 5 dime sized spots as well. Note: The quilt smells fresh is fairly clean and, though it could use a dry cleaning, as it was used and it shows on the edges. It measures 75 inches by 75 inches.
