SOLOMON BELL 9" FREEHAND DECORATED STONEWARE JAR 1840s
(Item: CROCK S. BELL)

We are happy to offer you another Wonderful Stoneware Crock from the Shenandoah Valley, Strasburg, Virginia and the Bell Family of potters. This 1 gallon crock, Circa 1840, is decorated with cobalt and impressed with the stamp of 'Solomon Bell.' This crock has been repaired, as the pictures show, the bottom was at one time broken into at least three large pieces, then re glued. The largest pieces that broke from the crock extends approximately 2 inches up the crock and along half of the bottom. The repair was done very well, as all pieces are complete and the cracks are sealed tight. Otherwise the crock is in fine condition with with only two very old 1/8 inch flakes on either side of the rim. Crock measures 9 inches tall and 6 5/8 inches in diameter.
