ANTIQUE 'YANKEE PUZZLE' PATCH WORK QUILT ~NEW HAMPSHIRE

This large and wonderful 'Yankee Puzzle' Quilt was put together and cared for by three generations of New Hampshire women. Around the turn of the Century the grandmother began to machine sew the pieces. Those pieces were handed down to her daughter, who in the 1930s added the lavender border by machine, then hand quilted the rest. It was then handed down to her daughter in the 1960s and carefully stored until today. Its unusual size of 97 1/2 inches by 74 1/2 inches, along with its gorgeous colorful pattern and history make this quilt a real gem! It is made up of a number of bright blues, greens, reds, pinks and more. It appears to have never been washed, is very clean and soft, smells good and is quite sturdy. Each 'puzzle'  block is tied with yarn in the center, is made up of 16 pieces, and measures approximately 5 1/4 inches square.
 The back shows the second generation's careful hand quilting and is soft and clean.
There are no rips, tears or obtrusive stains throughout and overall the quilt is in Very Good Condition.

As mentioned above the quilt measures 97 1/2 inches long and 74 1/2 inches wide.
