SIX GORHAM 1894 STERLING KING GEORGE CREAM SOUP SPOON Check out 30 + auctions this week full
of quality antique sterling from one local estate, much of which has
the same pattern and manufacturer. ~This Auction B~ This is a set of six, Sterling Gorham Cream Soup Spoons in the 'King George' pattern; one of two sets available today in separate auctions. The spoons pictured and described in this auction are the spoons the high bidder will receive. We also have a number of auctions this week with similar patterns from different makers, so check them out. As pictured, the back of each spoon is marked with the Gorham hallmarks, 'STERLING' and 'J.E CALDWELL & CO.,' as well as 'PAT 1894. Each spoon is monogrammed with what appears to be the initials 'EMS.' Of the two separate sets of these spoons up for auction this week, this set has one spoon with a very slight mishape on the top of the be bowl, and a second bowl with a pinhead sized nick in the top of the bowl; both issues are really, very minute. Otherwise, there is little or no difference between the two auctions; the other bowls and stems in this set hold their original shape with no bends or the like. There is some light scratching and tooth marks on the front and backs of the bowls, though no major dents, nicks or scratches. These spoons have a nice heavy weight, at 2.3 ounces each, for a total of 14.2 ounce for all six. They each measure 6 3/4 inches long.
