We're pleased to offer fifteen
excellent early Staffordshire figures
from our Scottsdale, AZ, "living estate". Some of the dogs are
pairs, and we will keep them together, so twelve auctions in
total. Several of the pieces are large, and most are vibrant and
in excellent condition, some rare. Each is described
below. This collection, and others to be offered soon, was
lovingly selected over many years, and each held special sentiment for
the owner. Because of the fragile soft-paste of the
Staffordshire, we cannot combine shipping on the larger pieces.
We will, however, group the smaller figures for some savings.

RARE STAFFORDSHIRE FIGURE OF CROUCHING DOG WITH BIRD IN MOUTH
This dynamic red painted dog with bird is, according to A. and N. Harding's Victorian Staffordshire Dogs book, "...in the author's opinion amongst the finest produced. Extremely rare, beautifully and accurately modelled, full of movement and life. They epitomize the best of Staffordshire." Condition: tail of bird missing, hairline crack on neck of bird, crack across dog's rear, hairline cracks on back and front of base and into underside (a few other small hairlines), front leg separation as pictured, light to moderate crazing. 6 3/4" tall at tail, 7 3/4" long base. Harding values the single of the pair at $3000 to $5000.
