CLASSIC SAM DENNY BLACK DUCK~SPECIAL PRE 1950
(Item: SAMUEL DENNY)

SOLD....$675
Good original paint on this classic Samuel Denny Black Duck, marked "S. Denny....Sp. O.", which we take to mean "Special order".  Not sure it could mean anything else?  Paint has good, strong colors and, as best we know, has not been touched up, repaired or repainted.  He has been shot over, as there are six small shot marks and one piece of shot lodged underneath tail.

There is some flaking of paint on back of neck (pictures show detail).
Denny, from Clayton, New York (1874-1953) was a commercial decoy maker, also a fishing and hunting guide for 50 years.  He also had 15 children....so, he must have spent some time at home....and in his spare time was a fiddle player for local dances.
We have no precise way of dating this decoy, nor any knowledge  of whom the "special order" was accomplished.  This decoy is in our personal collection of folk art and decoys, which we are selling parts of on Ebay.  We purchased from a reputable duck decoy collector/dealer, who assured us of its authenticity.  Please see the link below for an extra nice Mark McNair Loon we sold last week for $1,980 and the extraordinary Face Jug....$27,600.  Also, please check our auctions, as we will add a few special items each week.
Will pack properly and ship promptly to the highest bidder.
