~J.R. WELLS CANVASBACK DUCK DECOY~
(Item: DECOY A)

This Canadian Canvasback duck decoy was purchased by us as a J.R. Wells and he certainly looks like the Wells duck on page 286 of "The Great Book Of Wildfowl Decoys".  Has some repaint on body, glass eyes and he is 16 1/2 inches long.  This bird is a solid body, the head swivels and is stamped "CEC" twice on the bottom.
Wells carved decoys from the 1890's until the mid 1900's in Toronto Harbour.  His work appears frequently in the national decoy auctions and is highly desirable.
Offering today five nice decoys from our collection.
