Brooklyn, New York / Rockport, Massachusetts. Studied AIC, ASL, with Max Weber, Kenneth Hayes Miller, Boardman Robinson 1919-1922, in Paris with F. Leger. Member ASL, Audubon A; Independent Aristis; Cape Ann Society Art (President). Rockport Art Association; Artist Equity (Director); Exhibited: Society of Independent Artists, 1929, 1942; CI, 1930, 1931; AIC, 1932-1934; 1936, 1938, 1942; BM; WMAA; CGA; NCFA; Audubon A; MMA; Wellons Gallery, 1956 solo; Lyman Allyn Museum, New London, CT; ASL 1962 memorial exhibition. Work: WMAA, BM.

Comments: Primarily known as a watercolorist, painting in a style similar to, but not as abstract, as that of John Marin. Teacher: Art Students League, 1939, 1947-51; 1957-60 (lecturer on color); Ralph Pearson Gloucester School; Contemporary Art Center, NYC (under the WPA ).
