William Parsons Oil Painting Born in Montreal. He studied commercial design at Sir George Williams College in Montreal. Later he studied at the Ontario College of Art under J.W.G. MacDonald and Fred Hagen and later under G.A. Reid, J.E.H. MacDonald (of the group of Seven), Arthur Lismer, J.W. Beatty and others of the period. He received the O'Keefe Scholarship and the Lieutenant Governor General's Medal. In 1962 he traveled in Europe including stops in Paris, London, Madrid, Rome, Florence and the Balearic Islands. In 1966 he won the Canada Council award which allowed him to paint full time. His first solo shows were in 1967 at the Bonli Gallery and the Regina Public Library. He later held shows in Halifax at the Centennial Gallery, Galerie III, Place Bonaventure (Montreal), the Canadian Consulate General in New York City. His group shows include the Royal Canadian Academy, the Ontario Society of Artists, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Ohio Invitational Show and the Sixth Biennial Exhibition of Canadian Painting in 1965. He became a teacher of art at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1973. His work is in many major collections including the Canada Council Collection and the Art Bank, as well as numerous private collections. Oil on Board Image Size: 16" X 20" - Signed on Rear - Framed
