Morgan Wagner Oil Painting Morgan Wagner was born in Holly, Colorado, in 1917, and attended the University of Colorado. He studied art in New York City at the Art Students' League with teachers George Grosz, Henry Billings and Van Clay Vytlicil. He was awarded a scholarship to the Broadmoor Art Academy beginning in 1941 and studied there with Boardman Robinston and Jean Charlot. Wagner died in 1950 after working for only seven years as a professional artist. During this short time he was an admired artist and showed at the Joslyn Museum in Omaha, the National Pepsi-Cola Exhibits, at the Canon City Blossom Festival, at the Colorado State Fair, at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and at the Denver Art Museum where he won several prizes. Wagner's work has not been seen on the market since his tragic death almost fifty years ago.
