John Haley Watercolor Born: Minneapolis, MN; Studied: Minneapolis School of Art, Hans Hoffman School of Fine Art; Member California Watercolor Society, San Francisco Art Association. John Haley studied art during the late 1920's with Cameron Booth in Minneapolis and Hans Hoffman in Munich and Capri. He returned to teach in Minnesota for several years and then moved to California where he became an art professor at the University of California, Berkeley. During the 1930's and 1940's, he was a key artist of the Berkeley School of Watercolor painting. From the mid 1950's he concentrated on working with oil paints and produced large abstract expressionistic works of art. In addition, Haley did lithographs, dioramas, stained glass window designs, bronze sculptures, wood sculptures, mosaics, and fresco murals.
