Hensche has been called an iconoclast, a pioneer, and the late Grand Central Art Galleries of New York named him, "L'Enfant Terrible of Academie". Hensche is known for teaching his students how to "key" a painting. The Memphian Theater Charles Miller currently resides in Memphis, TN. His contemporary is Sammy Britt of Mississippi. He has done a lot of mural work. Miller is noted for his abstract use of color and En plein-air painting, which means "in the open air".
