UPRR LOCK
(Item: CAT55/LOT396)

UPRR-

Stamped on shackle of Illinois Mfg. Co Adrian, MI brass heart shaped switch lock with S on reverse. The lock is designed with a panel insert so don't let the photo deceive you, it is not split that is the way the lock was manufactured. We believe this to be one of the original locks used on the Transcontinental line. This one originated in Laramie, Wyoming. Large clevis. Now lets talk history. This one shows evidence of two gun shot wounds on either side of the key cover resulting in dents of the front panel right through the heart! Could have been the victim of renegade Indians or Butch Cassidy & the Sundance kid robbing the train. We will let the buyer fill in the blanks. Could be fixed but why mess with character. A great piece of early western railroad history.
