BARON BRASS TOP LANTERN

BARON- brass top bell bottom lantern. Unusual frame in great shape. There is no globe retainer. At one point someone made a plug, apparently from styrofoam, and covered the bottom with a piece of black painted cardboard. This acts as a globe retainer, does not show and works fine. It could easily be removed if a globe retainer were found. The brass locking strap is engraved, “CSS&AL BARON PATENTED OCT. 18. 1870. MAY 11. 1875”. The locking strap is mounted on the frame rather than on the bell. Comes with deep ruby red extended base globe.
