ADAMS & WESTLAKE BRASS LANTERN
(Item: CAT 56/LOT356)

BRASS LANTERN- An early predecessor of the Adams & Westlake this all brass lantern was made by the Chicago Manufacturing Company, which was in business from 1866 to 1874. Patent dates on the bottom of the bell are from 1864, 65 & 66. There is a name engraved on the shoulder that appears to read, “P.M. Gau”. The clear extended base globe has etched initials of “T.P.M”, and is probably not original to the frame but fits nicely. A few minor stress cracks on the bell but otherwise in great shape for its age. Certainly a scarce lantern to find so a great opportunity to add a rarity to your collection.
