D&SL MARCIA BUSINESS CAR ICE BUCKET

DENVER & SALT LAKE-Ice Bucket from David Moffat’s private business car “The Marcia” named after his daughter. Side marked in cursive letters and manufactured by Reed & Barton here is another treasure that could be the only surviving piece known. Bucket has embossed vine & filigree design around the top edge with one inch raised band around the center. Outside shows few minor scratches and one small dent, inside has its share of ice pick marks & silver plate loss on the bottom. Still the “Marcia” marks are beautiful and overall just needs to be polished. This car is on display in Craig, Colorado allowing for visitors to view first hand a relic of the wonderful age of steam. My Grandfather W. H. Sagstetter was assistant Vice President on the Denver & Salt Lake railroad and road this car many times during his years with the road. We have had the pleasure of hearing great stories from retired Rio Grande employees of grand parties that they attended aboard this beautiful car. Pieces such as this make our job such fun. As much as we would love to keep this in our own collection we can at least say we had the pleasure of being able to offer it to the next lucky owner. This one is from the Ken Flansburg estate.
