LOT 27 PORTLAND EUGENE & EASTERN SPIKE

PORTLAND EUGENE & EASTERN RY – Gold plated spike engraved “Golden spike driven by President Strahorn of Portland Eugene & Eastern Ry at Monroe Oregon Sept 3, 1913 on occasion of completion of west side line between Portland & Eugene”. Comes in original presentation box also with engraved applied plate that reads, “Presented to Robert E. Strahorn President & Builder of OC&E Ry by Klamath Kiwanis Club in behalf of Citizens of Klamath Falls Celebrating Completion to Sprague River Oregon Oct 12, 1923”. Box measures 6” x 3” x 2” with gold clasp and leather covering. Applied engraved plate on the top of the box does show scratches & wear as well as wear on the box & one side of the box has been broken away. Still a great piece of railroad history. MINIMUM BID $75
