LOT 87 RHODE ISLAND WORKS BUILDERS PLATE
(Item: CAT67/LOT87)

RHODE ISLAND LOCOMOTIVE WORKS BUILDERS – oval brass plate dated 1886. Has three mounting holes. Reverse has “R4” punched into it. Referred to as a “blind style” plate as there was not an engine number cast on the plate originally so it made it difficult to determine what engine it came off of. Ron Muldowney did share this information: Given the 1886 date this plate could be from serial #1579 to #1698 which covers the locomotives built during that time period. The CB&Q had many locomotives built during this year so given the history of Mr. Avrill it is possible it be could be off of one of those. So we leave this one up to your imagination. Again an extremely early plate and missing from most collections this one should bring a lot of attention.
