LOT 111 GN BADGER EXPRESS DRUMHEAD GLASS

GREAT NORTHERN BADGER EXPRESS – original drumhead glass. Red glass has white backing to give appearance of white front facing goat logo in center. Glass measures 22” x 27” and has been professionally framed with overall measurements of 23 ½” x 28 ½”. The Badger Express was a short line on the GN running back & fourth between St. Paul & Duluth in Minnesota. This particular train was inaugurated in the mid 20’s but records are not clear as to when it ended. The Great Northern was one of the few lines that had not only circular drumheads but also this design. When you consider how fragile the glass must have been on these, it is amazing that any survived at all. It goes without saying that this is the only one known, so rarity wise were talking a real gem that is not only a wonderful piece of Great Northern Railroad history but also a treasure that can be enjoyed for many years to come. We understand there are companies that can manufacturer a case for the glass. Overall in excellent condition and ready to display and enjoy. Buyer can either pick up in Texas area or pay for professional crating. There have been several drumheads offered over the past few years from various railroads that have easily commanded over $20,000.00, so given that information it seems this one is a bargain starting at MINIMUM BID $16,000
