LOT 81 BELL

BELL 12 brass locomotive bell. Yoke appears shop made. This came from a long time Colorado family. The consignors father worked for the D&RG. The consignor is in his 70s. He said his father told him this came from one of the largest Rio Grande engines, I am assuming a 4-8-8-4. I did find a photo showing a bell mounted below the headlight on one of these engines. The mount would certainly make sense however, I cant get a close enough view of the front of the engine to verify this story. At any rate the bell has great tone and would ship easily via UPS, so that just makes it more desirable. Another great offering sure to please. MINIMUM BID$1000
