BUILDERS PLATES

I felt it important to share some history in regard to lot 79, 80, 85, 86, & 87. These plates all came from one consignor who found them in the 60’s in his home in Adams New York. He was doing some remodeling and these plates were found on a fireplace shelf. Covered in soot not only from the railroad but also from their location he did clean them. In his quest to find some answers to his curiosity he did some research on previous owners of his home. What he found was in the 20’s a gentleman by the name of Earl Averill lived in his home. Mr. Averill was employed with the P&R in 1899 and then went on to work for the CB&Q where most of his time was spent in the shops & roundhouse. He eventually ended up in New York where he was employed with the American Engineer & Railroad Journal and eventually worked with Standard Stoker company until his retirement. I want to take a moment to thank Ron Muldowney who has been kind enough to assist me researching these wonderful offerings. There are some very rare plates listed here so don’t miss this chance.
