French Style Great wheel skeleton clock
(Item: 022)
French Great Wheel clock, made by Norman Langmead
This is a contemporary clock made by Norman Langmead in about 1960. It is similar in appearance to the French great wheel clocks of the early 1800's and has a chain driven fusee with the mainspring housed in the base.
The 6 1/2 inch great wheel has a chain driven fusee. A high tooth count train enables the clock to have only three wheels and run eight days.
-8 day Fusee movement with only three gears
-Sunburst pendulum bob
-Casted eagle keeps watch over the dail
-Two casted griffons keep gaurd over the winding arbor
-Wonderfull hand blown glass dome is in perfect shape
-The fired porcelian dial has easy to read numbers
Perfect hand blown glass dome and solid wood base add to the elegance of the finely made movement
Note the very small pallets embacing a 90 tooth escape wheel
The casted eagle and griffons add contenuity to the front of the clock
The whole clock has a very slim and elegant look about it
Casted griffons make sure you know where to wind the clock at
Guilded brass sunburst bob
