This is a Bailey Durango Cowboy Hat. You can shape the brim any way that you want it. The brim has a wire in the outside edge which makes it easy to shape it into whatever brim shape you want. You can also reshape the brim whenever you choose. This hat is made by Bailey a longtime quality hat making company. The hat can be crushed and put into your luggage or backpack. When you take it out just pop it back into shape. It retains the original crown shape perfectly. The hat comes already treated with water repellant. This makes the hat rain and snow repellant. It also helps keep the hat clean and keeps the shape of the hat. This hat has a Gus crown which is taller in the back and lower in the front. This is the style that Robert Duvall wore in the movie Lonesome Dove. The hat comes with a stampede string or chin strap to keep it on in the wind and ear flaps that fold down from the inside when it is cold. This is a great stylish hat that is also very functional. It was originally made for skiers but has been extremely popular with hikers and year around riders. It is a little too warm if the temperature is above 90 degrees F. These hats are 100% virgin wool felt. The water repellent treatment keeps it from ever smelling like wool for a few years. Once the water repellent wears out then it is time to look for a new hat. Usually in Colorado where we live people get 4 to 5 years use from these hats before the bright sun damages it. They come in serpent green or black colors. These are soft pliable hats that fit comfortably simular to a baseball cap. If you don't like a stiff hat them this is for you. I enjoy mine for hiking, riding and fishing.
