Kunisada Utagawa A lovely bijin-ga image from the famous Japanese novel, “Tales of the Genji.” Print is by widely known Japanese artist Kunisada (1786-1865) who also commonly went by the art name of Toyokuni III (on prints after 1844). Double censor seals date print to circa 1847-48. Nicely printed with much attention to details. Nice “bokashi” (gradation of colors) to the various areas of the kimono; and very finely carved hairlines and kimono details as shown. Condition of print is very good—no tears, no thins—has tiny repaired wormhole at top edge and some very light soiling. Largely album backed (does have about 1 x 2 inch area where backing is not present). Image itself measures 9 ѕ x 14 3/8 inches.
