James Edward Hervey MacDonald (1873-1932)RCA OSA Member of "The Group of Seven" Canadian.

This example was pulled posthumously from the original matrix by his son, Thoreau MacDonald,and bears his authentication and signature. Still very rare.

J.E.H.MacDonald is best known for his affiliation as a founding member of the famed Group of seven. He was born in Durham England and came to Canada in 1887. He attended the Hamilton Art School under John Ireland and Arthur Heming. He soon moved to Toronto. In 1918 he took his first "boxcar" Sketching trip to Algoma.He would return numerous times. His works are featured prominently in THe National Gallery of Canada, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Art Gallery of Ontario,the Art Gallery of Vancouver, the Art gallery of Winnipeg and all other major public collections.
