Stella Mahogany Music Box w/Five Discs
(Item: 2138)

Sorry, This Item Is SOLD!!!

Stella Mahogany Music Box w/Five 9 ½" Discs

A very beautiful tabletop music box from the late Victorian era. This disc music box was made by Mermod Fre'res called the Stella. It was the first of the Swiss disc boxes and was an improvement on the German machines in that it played discs which had no projections. The points of the star wheels show through a steel plate which covers the combs and they are turned by holes in the discs. This design protects the working parts. Stella music boxes were brought to an extremely high finish, visible parts being chromium-plated, and usually you will find that this finish has lasted well through the years. This wonderful Stella mahogany case music box with external crank has a first British patent date of 9/22/1885, and the last one is 8/14/1900. All the parts are original. The dimensions are 9 3/4" tall, 18" wide, and 15 ½" deep. The music box is in excellent original condition, and has exceptional tone (Please listen to the :23 sound byte of the song "'O Tannonbaum". But please be patient, the file is quite large and could take a few minutes to load.) There are five discs with the music box. The titles are:

1. Rock of Ages, Toplady

2. The Mocking O

3. Star Spangled Banner

4. Home Sweet Home

5. Maryland, My Maryland. Mon Beau Sapin. 'O Tannonbaum

The discs are all in excellent condition. This would be the perfect gift for a very special person!

Please be patient for nine larger pictures to download,...so enjoy while we pick a song to play!
