Victorian Double Pickle Castor Sorry, This Item Is SOLD!!!
This is a very unusual and gorgeous double pickle castor, amoung the hardest to find. The design itself is uncommon. The peacock at rest in the center, sets off the entire piece. The castor was made by Pelton Bros. & Co., St. Louis, Missouri, No. #275, triple plate. The frame is 14 5/8" tall, the matching inserts, featuring a heron standing with a fish in it's mouth, are 3 1/8" in diameter x 4 1/4" tall, each. One is frosted and one clear. Apparently for two kinds of pickles, so you can tell the difference! The frosted insert has one tiny rim chip (see picture), otherwise, this is a complete and matching set, down to the pickle tongs. If you are into victoriana, you would love this set! Please be patient for seven larger pictures to download,...it's well worth your time!Retail Price: $1,695.00, SOLD For $1,525.00!
