1960 Carver Mahogany Custom Commander 1960 Mahogany Carver Custom Commander Runabout BoatThis isn't just your ordinary run of the mill boat, this is a truly beautiful, fully restored 16' foot runabout, ready for many weekends of relaxing fun! The 1960 Carver Custom Commander features six ply mahogany sides, and eleven ply mahogany bottom. The keel is solid oak. It is white with burgundy stripes, and has burgundy carpet. It has a closed bow with a new rebuilt hatch door (not original). It has a mahogany trimmed windshield, mahogany skier/swimmer ladder on the stern, an auxilliary motor rack, complete lights, Lowrance flasher unit, and a very audible horn. Included is an exceptional dual axle trailer by Alloy Co.. The two tone gray lounge seats are able to be positioned for sunbathing. The boat is rated for a 85 H.P. motor, but the boat owner has put a 1969 40 H.P. Johnson electric start Super Sea Horse motor on it, which handles exceptionally and is very comfortable for cruising. The boat serial number is # COM-659-I448. The previous owner spent 408 hours restoring this boat to its original beauty. While restoring it, he contacted the Carver Yacht Co. in Pulaski, Wisconsin for information on the hull, and received a letter and 1960's brochures for this model (we can fax or e-mail a copy of the letter if you are interested). The dimensions are 16' long, 6' wide, and 38" deep. Decals on the trailer are "City of Kenosha, Wisconsin, launching and trailer permit" from 1970 through 1979. The Carver Custom Commander was in storage from 1980 to 1995. The former owner began restoring it this past April until August, 1999. Imagine yourself cruising the waves in this beautiful and very collectible custom boat. It could become your home away from home! Please be patient for eight larger pictures to download,....your ship is coming in!
