1870's Eastlake Style Walnut Commode

A very elegant and large commode in excellent condition. This is a matching piece to #3669A, a large Eastlake style dresser. The commode has a large upper drawer and two lower drawers. The corner columns are carved acanthus leaves, as are the drawer handles. It has a back splash, and there is a shelf in the lower area. It is large enough to use as a small dresser. The locks are present, but there is no key; one could be made. We feel that it was refinished 30 or so years ago. The finish is in excellent condition. The top does have two dark areas where objects sat, not water rings, just dark areas. They do not detract from the beauty of this piece. The drawer is hand dovetailed. It is all solid walnut, and it is room-ready. Dimensions are: 32 3/4" wide, 18 ½" deep, 36 3/8" overall height with back splash, and 31 1/4" to flat surface. This would be an excellent bedroom or living room piece, since it is large enough for a TV to sit on, as well as for storage. You could even put a VCR or DVD player below, too! You may come up with a better idea for it than us!

The locks are present, but there is no key; one could be made. We feel that the commode was refinished 30 or so years ago; the finish is in excellent condition.
