Pigeon Blood "Apple Blossom Pattern" Biscuit Jar, Benedict Silver Co.
Pidgeon blood is a color not often seen or offered for sale. This is an exquisite biscuit jar from the late 1800's in excellent condition. The color is distinguished from other dark red glass by it's distinctive orange-red tone. The pattern is apple blossom, and is repeated three times around the body. It has beading around the base (see picture). The painted blooms are in great shape, as is the silverplating (see pictures). The dimensions of the biscuit jar are 8 1/4" tall to the top of the finial, 9 1/2" tall to the top of the handle, the base is 7 1/2" in diameter at the widest point, and the lid is 4" in diameter. There are no chips, cracks, imperfections or flea bites. This is a stunning piece for the avid collector of biscuit jars. This would also be a fun piece for your holiday table!
