Set of Four, 1890's Oak Pressed Back Dining Chairs w/Griffin Design

We sell many chairs each year, but this is the first set we've had with a winged griffin design. More common are the chairs with a flower or scroll design. These chairs are dark golden oak with nicely turned 5-spindle backs. Each chair has two turned stretchers in the front, and the front legs are turned. The seats are solid. The chairs were probably refinished 20-25 years ago. We only cleaned them and checked and re-glued joints for stability. There are no repairs, replaced spindles or stretchers. The chairs are 38" tall, and the seats are 15 1/4" deep, and 15 1/4" wide. This set of oak dining chairs looks very nice with item #4072J, a round dark golden oak 48" round claw foot table.
